History of Saint-Hubert
Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Saint-Hubert, located in Saint-Hubert, Quebec, played a pivotal role in Canada’s military history. Established during the 1920s as a civilian airfield, it evolved into a significant Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) base, especially during and after World War II.
Key Historical Significance:
World War II Training Hub: CFB Saint-Hubert served as a crucial training site under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, hosting No. 13 Service Flying Training School from 1941 to 1944. This school trained pilots on advanced multi-engine aircraft, preparing them for various combat roles.
Post-War Operational Base: After the war, the base became one of Canada’s primary air stations, hosting multiple jet fighter squadrons, including those flying the de Havilland Vampire and later the CF-100.
