Oceanside is a name adopted for a group of communities on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It is part of the Regional District of Nanaimo and includes the City of Parksville and the Town of Qualicum Beach as well as the unincorporated communities of Nanoose BayCoombsErrington, French Creek, BowserDeep Bay, Qualicum Bay and a few other smaller centres. Oceanside Information

Basking in sunshine on the east coast of Vancouver Island, Oceanside is Beach Country, and one of the finest year-round vacation destinations in Canada.

Boasting spectacular sandy beaches, coastal mountain vistas, and lush temperate forests, Oceanside enjoys the mildest climate in the country, with an annual average of 2,050 hours of sunshine. With no less than seven provincial parks located within a thirty-minute drive, Oceanside provides a host of outdoor recreational activities, including hiking, camping, caving and golfing. Bordered to the east by the Strait of Georgia, Oceanside also offers every watersport imaginable, including sport fishing, canoeing, sea kayaking, diving, beachcombing, sailing, and windsurfing.

Location: Oceanside is located along Highway 19 on south central Vancouver Island. The largest community in Oceanside – Parksville – is approximately 2 hours (88 miles/147 km) north of Victoria. Air links to Oceanside are through Victoria, Nanaimo and Comox to the north. Ferry access from Vancouver to Oceanside is through Nanaimo, 45 minutes (22 miles/36 km) to the south of Oceanside. BC Ferries operates two scheduled ferry services to Nanaimo from the BC mainland.
