Karen Cofield

I grew up in a military family and my parents always bought a fixer-up home, so since about the age of 10 I have done siding, shingles, framing, drywall, insulation and run electrical and cable through walls. The house we currently live in was contracted out to a company to build by us in 1986 and we supervised the site daily. To this day we still live in that home and love the layout and have only updated cosmetic and heating systems.
My background training has been completed extensively with the Carson Dunlop Course which includes 33 exams with a minimum pass of 75%. Certified by Carson Dunlop in 2006, Ministry of Municipal Affairs Certificates (Ontario Building Code Part 9 Health & Safety, Building Envelope), Hydronics Trained (Boiler Systems), WETT Certified (Wood Heating Systems), Defect Recognition Course (OAHI). I am also a Certified Member of PHPIC, National Certificate Holder member of Chamber of Commerce, member of WSACB, and member of BNI. As a full time Home Inspector I am required to keep updated on education yearly to maintain my membership in PHPIC. I also frequently speak at seminars on how to maintain your home and how to get it ready for sale.
In my spare time we travel the roads in our antique car to different events throughout Canada & USA. I love camping and spending time with our grandchildren. I also enjoy entertaining family and friends with some old fashion Ukrainian and Newfie Cooking. I love painting interiors of homes but honestly don’t ask for help picking out colors because apparently over the years I have proven to repaint the same room 4 times in, yes, one weekend!
